Exile Njoka participated in the 2024 Women & Girls in Cyber Conference, held from August 13 to 15 at the Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.
Hosted by the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA), the conference was held under the theme "Inspiring the Next Generation: Empowering Future Women Cybersecurity Professionals."
The conference brought together cybersecurity professionals, technology practitioners, policymakers, educators and young people to explore opportunities and challenges facing women and girls in the cybersecurity sector.
Among the sessions was a focus on cybersecurity careers, where Exile Njoka and Jacklyne Mbuthia shared insights with participants. The programme also included engagement with Malawi CERT first responders and discussions around emerging cybersecurity trends.
The event placed particular emphasis on encouraging more women and girls to consider careers in cybersecurity and technology. Other sessions explored emerging technologies, cybersecurity leadership and the experiences of women working in the sector.
The participation of experienced cybersecurity professionals helped provide attendees with practical perspectives on career development and the opportunities available within the growing cybersecurity industry.
